Joe Hernandez. 
I created Total Pro Baseball Lessons out of my love and passion for the game of baseball. My dream and goal was to always play Pro Baseball. I worked on achieving that goal through hard work, good coaching, & a belief in myself. Many other young men have the same belief & desire I had, right now. I believe that through hard work in school and on the field, dedication and respect for yourself and the game along with solid experienced coaching, any goal can be achieved. I would like to thank the following baseball men that have influenced me greatly or assisted me in my baseball career and in life: Bill Veeck, Jerry Krause, Dave Dombrowski, Mike Veeck, Bill Buckner, Dick Howser,Vince Pica, Buzz Capra & Felipe Alou.

I am a former college scholarship Catcher/3rd. Baseman from Northeastern University. Based on my College career and solid tryout camp evaluations, I went on to sign professional baseball contracts with: Montreal, Kansas City & Seattle as well as various non-affiliated & International organizations during my baseball life.

I fell short of my goal to play at the major league level and my playing time became very limited due to various leg injuries, rehab assignments and the eventual reality of age. Not being able to play due to injury prior to the season is the most frustrating feeling any player can experience. Unfortunately for me, injuries prior to the start of the season happened 3 straight years.  As a result, after my playing career was over, I stepped away from the game. I took time to complete College and graduated with a BS in Psychology with an emphasis in Sport Psychology.  

I returned to baseball as one of the Midwestern regional scouts for the Montreal Expos and served as an assistant instructor during Spring Training for the: Padres, Reds and Devil Rays in my career. Instructing baseball at every level from Little League to Pro I realized every players need and desire for solid Professional Baseball Instruction to help them reach the next level.

I have worked as a Professional Baseball Instructor in the Chicagoland area for the past 18 years including Baseball Instructor positions with  Grand Slam Baseball Academy and the Chicago White Sox Training Academy, prior to starting Total Pro Baseball Lessons. I have over 35 years of Baseball experience as a player, scout and instructor. I also Managed the Top Tier 15U National Baseball Team in 2009 & will be the Manager of the Upper Deck Cougars 16U baseball team in 2010.

I remain active in the Minor League Baseball Players Alumni Association & the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association. I also conduct Baseball Clinics across the country for Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association.

"All players and teams will be coached in a Professional Baseball style and they will be asked to work hard under my direction, but they will also have fun with the greatest game in the world- Baseball. Remember: Major leaguers are not born, they are developed."

Our Business

Total Pro Baseball Lessons will assist each baseball student to reach his goals. With proper instruction and preparation, each player will gain the needed skills and confidence to succeed in baseball and in life.
